I had the misfortune of having to deal with a “reportable” home heating oil contamination issue when I had a dormant UST removed prior to a major renovation/addition to our home. My head was spinning and not sure who to call or trust in this very stressful time, plus we live within Conservation Land and are in a protected drinking water zone, so this issue had high visibility from a number of interested parties. I reached out to the Conservation expert who help us get approval from the Conservation Committee for our house project. The name he came back with within minutes of receiving my E-Mail was Bill Mitchell and Clean Soils. I reached out to Clean Soils via E-Mail and within twenty minutes I received a phone call from Kevin McAndrews, the project manager. He listened to what I was going through, understood how stressful this is for a homeowner and then began to explain how he would attack the problem to get it cleaned up as soon as possible while being cost effective at the same time. During that conversation with Kevin he brought Bill Mitchell into the call to discuss all the options, as I had been given another option from another firm. The option Kevin and Bill agreed on seemed to me to make the most sense to me and would begin the clean-up sooner rather than later, and it would be done with cost in mind. I immediately knew going with Clean Soils was going to be the right decision. I hired Clean Soils the next day and it’s the best decision I made. Kevin did an outstanding job coordinating with all parties involved, including the remediation crew (who were also outstanding - ACV), our local conservation committee and an outside firm my Insurance company hired to do some water testing prior to the clean-up. Kevin and John, also from Clean Soils, were on-site for both days of remediation working seamlessly with the ACV crew and answering all our questions. Our contamination was reported at the end of March, and on May 12th I received a call from Kevin that all the testing was complete and the site was clean, the soil and water testing results were well below the requirements for the drinking water zone. I can’t say enough good things about Clean Soils, if you ever have the unfortunate situation of having an oil contamination issue, call Clean Soils, they’ll talk you off the ledge, then will put a plan together that will get the issue resolved as fast as possible while always thinking of the most cost-effective way to do so. I know they were very busy during the time of my problem, but always answered the phone and answered all of our questions and you never felt they were rushing through the call. They understand the stress the homeowner is going through and they want to reassure you everything will be fine. Clean Soils Environmental provide LSP services for 3 UST removals (two 50,000 gallon tanks and one 20,000 gallon tanks) including visual inspection, soil sampling and closure reporting. Very professional services and very focused on customer requirements. Crew always arrived on time and provided the owner with confidence that all aspects of the tank removal and closure were properly done and documented. Owner and local Fire Department both impressed with the professionalism of Clean Soils Environmental. I would recommend their services to all.

We had an accidental fuel oil leak that impacted our property and 3 others down the street in spring 2020 when it never stopped raining. I seriously don't know what I would have done without the guidance of Bill Mitchell and his team. They provided every detail of the soil testing and remediation via text, calls and emails before any action was taken. When on site all employees wore Covid-19 protective gear. Clean Soils worked exceptionally well with our impacted neighbors and kept them informed. Clean Soils was part of 3 firm team that were hired to clean up, map and remediate the oil spill. Clean Soils worked seamlessly with the other contractors. I cannot say enough about Clean Soils during this very stressful experience.

I had engaged Clean Soils concerning a release of heating oil from a tank in my basement. Kevin from Clean Soils helped to identify the release area, directed the cleanup of impacted concrete and underlying soil, and verified that the cleanup was complete by testing the bottom of the excavation. I would highly recommend Clean Soils for assistance with home heating oil spills.
